“Violence Against Women Is a Crime” — under this slogan, people gathered on November 25, 2014, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Protests took place in Tbilisi and 22 other cities across Georgia. That year, 24 women had been killed, and cases of domestic violence were increasing.

In Tbilisi, hundreds of people gathered in front of the Parliament building at the initiative of the “Women’s Movement” to protest violence against women. Politicians also joined the demonstration. Participants signed a petition outlining steps the government should take to prevent gender-based violence, and left handprints in paint on a large banner as a symbol of solidarity.
